Ever wondered if your oppas have tattoos or piercings?

Korean society still treats tattoos and piercings as taboo and even considers them highly unattractive on a person's body.

But some people see tattoos and piercings as a means to express themselves and find healing, including your favorite Korean pop idols.

While many have flaunted their inks in music shows and concerts, some chose to hide it with tapes and make-up (mainly because they want to avoid criticisms from the public).

In this article, we made a complete list of the famous kpop stars who drove their fans crazy with their permanent tattoos and ear piercings.

Kpop Idols With Tattoos (and Special Meanings Behind Them)

Here are some of the top South Korean female celebrities who embraced their individuality with their tattoos.

Chaeyoung from Twice South Korean band

Chaeyoung (TWICE)

We'll start this list with Chaeyoung, who has at least ten known tattoos. Some of them are inked on her wrist, forearm, right ear, and many more!

Fans speculate the meanings behind Chaeyoung's tattoos among themselves as the artist doesn't talk much about it herself.

Sadly, because of their innocent and bubbly image under JYP Entertainment, Chaeyoung has covered her tattoos with skin-colored tapes during broadcasts.

Taeyeon (SNSD)

SNSD's kid leader, Taeyeon, has around six tattoos inked on her body.

Each tattoo either represents the albums she had released and her zodiac signs, as well!

Lee Hyori (FIN.K.L Ex-member)

A former member of the first-generation K-Pop group, FIN.K.L., and a nature activist.

Lee Hyori has several drawings of flowers and animals like turtles and snakes inked on her body.

Those tattoos showing her love for the environment had freaked out her mother-in-law when they first went to a sauna together!

HyunA (4Minute Ex-member)

"My mother is the heart that keeps me alive" is what the tattoo on Hyuna's back says.

Throughout her busy career, Hyuna wasn't able to spend much time with her mother.

When she joined the cast of Invincible Youth, a variety show aired on KBS2, the then-17-year-old 4Minute member cried after she got to call her beloved mother.

Hyolyn (Sistar Ex-former member)

During Hyolyn's childhood, she was diagnosed with several health conditions, such as pediatric cancer.

She was even placed in an incubator to survive and has gone to many surgeries, leaving a big scar on her abdomen.

In an interview, Hyolyn revealed that covering that scar with a tattoo gave her confidence in herself and her body.

Here are South Korean male celebrities who aren’t afraid to show their body art to both their fans and the public.

Jay Park

Jay Park is known in the Korean music industry for having numerous tattoos.

Since his departure from 2PM, he has received several criticisms from the public.

But despite his image, he is actually a true family man.

Two of his tattoos are tributes to his family: "19 55 60 87 89" and "Always come proper."

The former stands for the birth dates of Jay Park's family members, while the latter is the values his family has taught him. Meanwhile, the HIGHR Music CEO's first-ever tattoo is a tribute to his b-boy crew, "AOMG."

K-pop icon and the leader of BIGBANG, G-Dragon, is no stranger to needles and ink throughout his career.

From almost every angle, you can always spot a tattoo or two on his body.

Some of it includes "Vita Dolce" and a red heart inspired by an American graffiti artist, Keith Haring.

Each tattoo represents good life and support for social causes and activism.

Chanyeol (EXO)

Chanyeol has "L-1485" inked on his side wrist, which holds a special meaning for both him and EXO-Ls, their fandom name.

"L" stands for his fans, and the numbers next to it stand for the date their fandom was established (August 5, 2014).

Zico (Block B Ex-member)

Since his debut, Zico has had this rebellious image.

However, he is also a devoted child who shows his love for his mother through his tattoos.

For their group's, Block B, first win, Zico had the date tattooed on his skin to commemorate this their hard-earned victory.

And, on his arm, Zico has a yellow ribbon inked to remember the Sewol Ferry tragedy that happened on the morning of April 2014.

Jungkook (BTS Ex-member)

This list won't be complete without the tattoos of BTS' Jungkook!

The group's maknae has the word "ARMY" tattooed on his knuckles, dedicating it to fans worldwide.

While South Korea sees body piercings as taboo, these South Korean female celebrities are bold enough to break the rules.

LE (EXID Ex-member)

EXID's LE first revealed her navel piercing in a photoshoot, surprising both fans and the public.

Since then, the group's main rapper has shown her piercings on many occasions like group promotions and music shows.

Wendy (Red Velvet Ex-member)

RED VELVET's Wendy is one of the k-pop idols who have the most piercings.

In total, the main vocalist has 12 ear piercings (five lobes, triple flat, two helixes, a conch, and a forward helix).

Jisoo (Blackpink Ex-member)

Being the group's visual is a heavy responsibility to bear.

Often, they are subject to several criticisms as they try to meet all the subjective beauty standards that Korean citizens place upon their celebrities.

But Jisoo couldn't care less.

She has about eight ear piercings (five on her right ear and three on the left).

Jennie (Blackpink Ex-member)

The YG Princess had surprised netizens when she uploaded a photo of her with a nose piercing on Instagram.

From the comments alone, you can bet Jennie almost started a new trend.

These South Korean male idols have driven their fans crazy with the number of piercings they have on their bodies.

Jay B (Got7)

GOT7' JB has nine body piercings, three on his left ear, four on his right, an anti-eyebrow, and a nose piercing.

In an interview with Allure, Jay B (his new stage name as a solo artist) finds piercings as a means to experiment with standards and boundaries placed upon Korean celebrities.

Bobby (iKon)

Since his first appearance in MNET's Show Me the Money, Bobby has had a well-established badass image as a rapper and artist.

His eyebrow piercing can prove it to you!

Hongjoong (Ateez)

ATINYs can't get over Hongjoong's piercings.

As of now, Ateez's leader has nine piercings.

A lobe piercing and two inner helices are only some of his collection.
